Going To Events Because It Is Free

Saturday, August 16th, 2008 by Alan Yu

So today the PNE opened up for the remaining of the summer. For those who don’t know, it is a fair. Since it is the opening day today, anyone who went to the fair before 12pm would get a free admission as the fair normally costs money. Now for this fair you essentially get hand stamps on your way out so that you can re-enter again as a paid person.

It was interesting as so many people attended before twelve who simply went in and then out to get the stamp. My guess is that they would go back later in the evening sometime. I actually know a lot of people that do that every year too and guess what? They never actually end up attending later on in the day.

I guess it is like one of those having to take advantage of it otherwise you feel dumb situations. I just walked around today though and for the most part everything seems similar. For me, since it was free I didn’t really have to worry too much about staying for too long as opposed to if I paid for it. I’m probably going to end up going back and paying a ticket near the end of the fair ironically.

Using Birthdays To Get Free Stuff

Thursday, December 13th, 2007 by Alan Yu

One of my friend was telling me that he was going to a birthday party and the plan was to take the friend to as many restaurants and vendors as possible to see how many free birthday gifts they could get him. For example, getting free sundaes or clothing items.

I’ve never actually seen someone do this to the extreme personally. I think the only free stuff that I get consistently nowadays in terms of a vendor is my cell phone plan as people get free unlimited calling on their birthdays. I’ve never actually tried going to restaurants and getting free food though. Would feel a little strange doing that.
