Buying Google Pixel 5 Phones From Other Countries To Save Money

Today there was a lot of announcements from Google for product launches with the most visible news being the launch of its Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G phone. What was really interesting to me was the prices in different countries. It was revealed that the Pixel 5 would be $699 US and the Pixel 4a 5G would be $499. Since I am from Canada you can usually expect it to be a lot higher as a result after the dollar conversion. $699 US should almost be $930 Canadian.

But when you look at the price of the phone on Google’s official store the Pixel 5 is $799 and the Pixel 4a G is $679. That almost feels like an error when it comes to the pricing of the new Pixel 5. That can be the case many times where the item is extremely cheaper on the other side of the border. But this much cheaper? Would you actually buy a phone from a different country in this case to save money?

You would have to pay some extra taxes to bring it back to your own country of course. But for many the savings is still there. I would just worry about compatibility if the devices you are buying are designed specifically for certain places. Example, plugs and chargers meant for Europe versus North America. In a case like this it makes me wonder how many US residents would actually buy it from Canada.
