This was kind of a common scenario I saw today where a person was saying how they decided to buy a whole series set for a show that he was interested in watching. However, he still had tons to watch from a different show before he could get to this. The new set he bought wasn’t even on sale or anything either as he just knows that he will want to watch it someday. These purchases aren’t cheap either as they cost over one hundred dollars.
There are so many drawbacks to this when it comes to your money I feel. For one thing who knows where by the time you actually get around to using the new item odds are there could have been a big sale on the product. At the same time, you are kind of stopping yourself from finding ways to make your money work for you to earn even more. A savings account is the most common example.
Usually my only exception is if the item is at a ridiculous sale price. Other than that I usually have a habit of making sure I have gone through my current items first. Sometimes by the end of it too you may realize that the thing you would have bought just doesn’t interest you anymore as well. Almost makes me think that we all should have learned to not have this habit from being a kid where we always want new toys even though the other thing we bought is still in the box kind of deal. Old habits are hard to break like they say huh? Definitely one you should.
