Today I decided to have some fun and went to visit an event called Central Spark, where the city of Burnaby had all these Halloween festivities, even though it was a day early. One of the big things was that they apparently were going to have a drone light show and some fireworks, so why not? When I went there, for the most part it seemed like a very small-scale event. I mean, it’s kind of expected when you go to various city events. It’s not exactly a huge budget where you’d expect, for example, let’s just say for a drone show, tens of thousands of drones. That would be unrealistic.
But overall, what really got me thinking was how I overheard some people in the audience saying that when they go to these events, they keep their expectations at virtually zero so they can enjoy the experience better. For the most part, it seemed like the event surprised a lot of people when it came to things like the drone light show. It was small, of course, but still, it’s something that was free, per se. It was city-funded, but people enjoyed it, and that’s something to think about.
A lot of times when people go to free events like these, they have the expectation that it’s some type of Disneyland attraction, for example, whereas in reality it’s just supposed to be something fun for the community. I think you need to remember that, especially considering the fact that you don’t have to pay any money for it. Keep your expectations at a reasonable level. In my opinion, you’ll probably end up enjoying things a lot more when it comes to not having to spend money to enjoy these festivities.
