It was kind of an interesting perspective to read about stories where wealthy people decided to give regular everyday people thousands of dollars through some kind of stunt. For example, ordering some kind of food from a restaurant where the bill may only be about $1 but they end up leaving $1000 where the server then gets shocked. Then there were other scenarios such as giving say a homeless $10,000. Here was the interesting part where naturally these kinds of stories get around and sometimes they also get picked up by the media.
But funny enough, it’s not necessarily the story where the most money was donated that got all the exposure. Instead it was I guess based on more of the unexpected. Example, apparently something like tipping a server $1000 is more unusual than giving a homeless person $10,000. So the story that would get the most coverage is the one about the server.
While it is kind of weird to think about, it should make you think where if your hope is to increase exposure for say an organization through these good deeds many times it’s who you help as opposed to how much. Of course if you are doing something for a charity cause then you should do it regardless, but it goes to show certain things connect with the mass majority a lot more.
