In a few days a lot of Canadians who are dependent on the CERB system will be on their final four weeks of getting a total of $2000 a month. This has resulted in a lot of groups urging the government to extend the benefits until things truly go back to normal. But what if it doesn’t get extended? Are you going to sit there and hope more money will come or will you adapt?
There are plenty of things you can proactively do. One way is probably the least desirable for most where if your industry and field is pretty much doomed for who knows how long then maybe it’s time to explore other fields and work that are in demand. From what I can see farms are in desperate need of labor and the tech field is growing rapidly with more people needing digital solutions and way of doing business. So would you enter into a different field if necessary?
I think either way you should be trying to explore all your options and utilize all the modern tools that are available to you. For example, if you are one to normally hate social media it might not be a bad idea to simply use it as a way to let the world know your skills and you are available. You need to put yourself out there. Just as an example I was recently contacted by a production company that wanted to license some of my work for a commercial. When I made it originally there was no commercial intent behind it. But like there just putting yourself and your work out there can bring opportunities to you.
It’s always better to expand our portfolio as even under normal circumstances you never know when that job or industry will close down. Now is a good time to do something.
