Holding Companies Accountable For Little Financial Reward

The other day I was reading about scenarios where people ended up suing companies over what seemed to be low monetary losses where the bottom line was they were in a sense duped by the offending party. These guys didn’t really need the money either and for sure they would be losing money having to go through the court system. However, one person was expressing how there has probably been a lot of other people these companies scammed and so he felt since he is in a fortunate position he would hold them accountable in hopes it will deter them from doing it again.

It sounds crazy from a business point of view as many times companies do just end up paying people who are in the wrong as an example because it is not worth the time to fight people for a few dollars. Then again, I do see the perspective as well where it adds up if people or companies have been scamming people for a long time.

It’s almost like those gift card scam stories where it may be just say $20 for the person but when you multiply it for the thousands around the world that have been scammed it paints a different picture. Like there, if you were a billionaire would you prosecute someone for that $20 that he scammed you for? Sure makes it feel different when you put it that way right? Of course, if you don’t really have unlimited funds it may not be a good idea of course.
