Using Your Own Handicaps In Life As An Advantage

For perfectly healthy people we can often take for granted the simplest things such as being able to walk with our own two feet when there are people who require some kind of aid to do so. No too long ago I saw these kids in the public riding a wheelchair which they didn’t need but thought it was fun. One of them actually blurted out they wish they were handicap just so they can use a wheelchair all day. A short-sighted remark of course. But there are those times where you see people with say only one leg adapt to a regular modern day life in ways that amaze you.

But I was recently seeing all these public personalities were despite things like their physical handicaps they still do the things they wanted to do. Having that handicap should mean they are at a disadvantage. But funny enough it can actually be an advantage. A good example would be imagine two chefs having a restaurant and wanting to attract customers. They both cook the same quality items. But when people hear that one chef is say blind but can cook a quality meal as good as anyone else that’s almost like an advantage to stand out from the rest.

Now of course it should be technically harder to do basic stuff compared to others. But once one has that been solved the aspect of branding per se should be way easier when you think about it. It’s almost like switching the challenges in life. So in some ways whatever handicap you think you have in life can actually be an advantage as well if you are using that as a reason not to do something.

Another example that comes to mind is this wrestler that has one leg. While apparently that is a very difficult industry to break in having a missing body part made the person unique and stood out which funny enough many people struggle to find a way to be different.
