UFC And Bud Light Sponsorship Deal

It still feels like yesterday when so many people and companies were boycotting Bud Light due to its decision of using a transgender influencer named Dylan Mulvaney in a video promotion. To make it worst, there was a video of its vice president of marketing stating how the company wanted to get away from a “fratty” and “out of touch humor’ approach which many perceived as a company criticizing its existing customer base.

So recently it was announced that Anheuser-Busch has agreed to a $100 million deal with the UFC to be a sponsor. That is a lot of money and the question is will people who feel strongly about Bud light boycott the UFC for this? Some of the answers were fascinating as a lot of people see through this as an attempt for the beer company to redeem itself. So to them, they won’t boycott the UFC but instead will remain watching fights while viewing it as a win-win because they will still not buy the beer while knowing one of their favorite sports organization is getting a lot of money out of it.

Kind of interesting that the consumer can view it from a business perspective like that and makes you wonder if the executives in Anheuser-Busch realize that they are essentially wasting money in that sense if a large portion of the audience feels the same.
