Twitter Blue Impersonation Problems

Ever since Twitter decided to release a subscription based service where people who pay about eight dollars a month could have a verified profile look similar to public figures it appears that people have been abusing this by creating accounts that sound similar to the official brands and posting messages that would shock people to hear. But some reports are going around that these fake accounts are actually being taken seriously by a lot of people where it causes things like the company’s stock to drop. What makes it worst is that apparently if you have this subscription service your posts are supposed to get a boost in visibility compared to non subscribers.

Because of that, Twitter is apparently putting it on hold. To my understanding, Twitter has a rule where if you are a fake or parody account then you have to make that clear in your profile and username or the platform will ban you. But like here I guess the people doing this wouldn’t care as it’s only eight dollars and they can wreak havoc. I guess this shows running a business and creating new profit generation ideas can have so many circumstances that you are oblivious to until it is actually implemented to the mass huh?

While a lot of people have the perspective that this is doom and gloom for the company, I was thinking funny enough it kind of shows there is a market for a lot of people that are indeed willing to pay for this service. So if they can figure out all the kinks they could have a winning formula.
