This was interesting to think about as recently here there seems to be a lot of turmoil between health officials and the general public. It seems to be primarily about pandemic protocols where people don’t agree with the directions that are currently in place. What got me thinking is how recently our head medical doctor has been receiving a lot of awards to celebrate her time as a public health official. While awards would normally be a good thing, it seems like it is doing the opposite where people are using that as a way to say the person is too busy partying and a accepting these awards versus taking people’s concerns seriously.
Regardless, she is still accepting them and it makes you wonder is there such a thing as too much recognition to the point where people will start to turn against someone because they feel the individual is no longer relatable per se? I know there are people who actually pay companies to get awards as an example to demonstrate these kinds of things often have value to increase one’s net worth or presence.
Of course, the other factor can just be timing where if at some point in time one appears to be generating a lot of negative press then maybe it’s best to keep these types of things on the low.
