Thinking You Will Never See Certain People Again

Imagine a company that works with another person for some kind of event only to have messed up in some way as things don’t go according to plan. People are usually understanding of errors correct? However, for this company they decide to just sweep it under the rug and not even apologize to people for the difficulties as they figured they will never see them again anyways so why bother spending time and energy on the matter?

You know how this story turns out huh? Not surprisingly, apparently they crossed paths again where that same business once again needed to acquire help. For whatever reason, I guess their contact list in the area had them reaching out to virtually the same people. That made everything awkward of course where people remembered the previous experience. Not surprisingly, they turned it down.

I do find that amazing when businesses have that attitude as you just never know who you will bump into in the future. I would have thought everyone would have heard those tales of the guy who got picked on as a kid grew up to be a billionaire example to teach you never to treat people bad intentionally just because you think they will have no direct influence in your future. Or at the same time, intentionally treating one poorly because you don’t think you will get anything out of them today.

I suppose it doesn’t matter how many times you say it the cycle will continue for most. It’s important to be consistent in how you treat everyone. Both personally and professionally I think.
