I thought this was interesting as I was observing strategies from two people who seem to have the same goal in growing their businesses. Ultimately, the end goal is to get as much attention as possible in order to sell their offerings. One person seemed to go by the hard work and quality route which showed as you clearly tell his work takes a lot of time investment. He seemed to have gotten moderate attention for it.
Now there was another person who seemed to produce less quality work in comparison as the attention to detail simply wasn’t there. However, he invested a lot of his time literally spamming every community he could think of that would possibly be interested in his work. He seemed to be getting more attention as a result. Time will tell who will actually come out ahead, but it does make you think whether or not that notion of simply work hard and produce quality stuff is not the way to go.
It’s the age old saying I have heard such as you could have the best restaurant food in the world. But if nobody knows it exists then it will never get enjoyed by anyone. In many ways you kind of have to shamelessly promote yourself in those ways. A lot of people actually hire firms to do it for them in an effort prevent the bad image of self promotion. Unless you just get really lucky everyone is going to have to put in some effort to actually market themselves to get ahead.
