This got me thinking as I recently saw a person trying hard to sell courses online in regards to the topic of video creation and how one can make so much money that way. The difference was this person had an existing customer base in a different industry where things appear to be drying up and so they are looking for other things to essentially sell people. From what I saw too the person themselves does not have any notable accomplishments to warrant them teaching people how to succeed in the field. Instead, they seem to be charging hundreds of dollars for very basic information.
It gives you the “fake guru” type of business model and it was interesting to see how because they have no real experience or accomplishments, they started to reach out to those who did in hopes that they could leverage other people’s name and recognition to sell courses. I don’t doubt it works too as plenty of people make thousands a week following this same type of formula.
The twist here was a lot of people that were contacted did some quick background check on the person and there were so many negative reviews of their previous offerings that they decided to pass. That’s always risky because people do genuinely expand into different markets to find more revenue. But then there are those who are simply hoping to enter an industry to repeat their bad business practices in a market that has no clue about them. To me that is always a red flag and one requires some extreme due diligence and care if you decide to go into business with them of course. As demonstrated here too, nowadays you can quickly find information about people in these ways.
