I went to a restaurant with my dad today and his first thought was to try this place as the prices seemed very inexpensive. Upon entering everything seemed normal. But when staff actually came you could see how many of them just wanted to get the day over with. As well, they wouldn’t regularly attend tables to make sure that everything was okay.
The first thing that came to my mind was that the business must have cut a lot of expense in the service department to make the meals inexpensive compared to its competitors. I’m almost inclined to say that it could be wiser to do the reverse where you say sacrifice portions a little to make up the cost in keeping your service top notch. This can relate to virtually every other business as well I believe.
It just seems a little risky to focus too much on price only as people will jump to someone else without much thought as soon as another person offers something along the same price. Good service would usually make people think about it more I’d say to the point where they may stay longer as they want to see you succeed even if you are more expensive.
