My Internet contract was expiring and it was kind of interesting as there were sales people from the provider contacting me to renew my contract. At first they told me about new options that would be better than what I am using now for virtually same price at about $59.99 a month. As well, they would give me about a $100 credit. That sounds good enough for most people. But knowing there are faster options with cheaper rates out there I decided to initiate a service cancellation since there stance was that is the best they can do.
Not too long after I was contacted by the company’s loyalty and retention department that had access to even better deals. Long story short, I was able to get an Internet service that was more than three times faster than what I was using before and the monthly fee was $45. On top of that, they gave me a $200 credit. So, I said yes to that.
That’s a crazy amount of savings for a far superior package. It’s a great example on how you should often try and negotiate for better deals after these types of multi-year service contracts as a lot can change in the industry and what is presently consider as a good deal. Imagine if I just accepted the same service even at the discounted price. I would have missed out in getting the faster service too.
Just like renewing a contract for a job, most people would expect to earn more due to things like inflation. It doesn’t hurt to expect more from your service providers too in wanting better deals for them to keep your business.
