I would imagine for most people whenever one starts a business venture their goal is to grow as big as possible. For example, a restaurant that wants to serve thousands of customers very day versus hundreds or a retail store that is spread across the globe with franchises. So it was surprising to hear how there were people who intentionally hold back if it looks like they are growing into something larger than they originally could imagine.
Imagine running a store where you simply wanted to sell some items to make a comfortable living. One month you experienced a huge surge of customers which usually means people can re-invest it into the business if they wish to grow even bigger. But imagine instead the person then shuts the business down until he essentially loses enough business on these closed days to the point where financially it would be as if nothing changed in the week.
Apparently, the reason for this is that the person doesn’t want the extra attention that comes for everyone who achieves big success. For example, constantly being hounded by people about your next move or attracting competitors who are now eager to take you down. So instead they want to just make a comfortable living without the spotlight.
I suppose that isn’t too out of the ordinary when it comes to people working at a job as an example. I would have just thought for most entrepreneurs one would generally have the desire challenge themselves in being the best per se.
