This was a little unbelievable if true as I was reading how there were actors that were intentionally trying to clone themselves with AI in an effort to bypass the work of have to tape an audition in order to be considered for role. Usually when an actor is requested, they would do what is known as a self tape where they would record themselves acting a scene and then they would submit that to a casting director for review. That takes time and in some cases money for those without the technical skills to film and edit.
So to them, it made sense to just use an AI program that learned their voice and likeness to then simply act out the scene for them where if they get the job then great. If not, then then they didn’t need to do much to create this. Of course, the tech isn’t that good yet as AI generated images still look fake per se such as the eyes looking lifeless in many cases which makes it more evident. Not surprisingly, it turned out bad for them.
Imagine trying to do this for this like an actual web based interview or attending meetings where people will send clones of themselves hoping people won’t noticed. Sounds crazy, but people are already doing it.
