Today I saw something interesting in that game Pokémon Go where normally people are meant to walk to rea life locations in order to catch Pokémon or there is a more competitive side to the game as people can battle what’s known as gyms to get rewards. Again, you normally have to physically be at a location, but It was apparent someone was using a known paid software to be in multiple locations at once where it is physically impossible for one person to move that fast. The person must have been spending real life money consistently in-game too to keep it going.
It made me think how people often wonder who in the world would spend so much money on these games as the price at times are pretty expensive. I guess this was a clear example as a lot of people are willing to spend all their money to try and essentially harass others for the sense of superiority I suppose. I actually remember way back when I played an online game where people could essentially pay real money to give themselves a power advantage over others there were actually lawyers that would spend $5000 to $10,000 just to get this competitive advantage.
I suppose it shows there’s definitely a profitable business with games in these ways. It’s probably worst than gambling for many. But it’s a more niche market I suppose.
