As expected today you see restaurants in full force for one of the busiest times of the year as people go out to celebrate the new years. One interesting observation I had was street vendors who were literally setting up shop at a different location than normal just for this date in order to capitalize on more foot traffic around places such as parks. I actually wonder if they did that legitimately as getting permits can often take awhile I would imagine.
With that said, if everything was by the book it is an interesting strategy for a vendor to try and generate more sales since everyone is in a festive mood with a lot of hungry families walking around on the day. At the same time, I would wonder if that would cause potential loss of sales too where if you are known every day usually to be in a certain spot then likely those who regularly go to you will seek you out at the same spot to get some food.
I suppose having a social media presence would help so that you can advertise to your regular clientele base of current locations. But I do wonder how much better it is financially for a business to do this.
