Recently I renewed my Internet contract with my current provider as they provided me a retentions deal that involved getting $200 worth of credit and as well they mentioned that they would provide new modem equipment as well. It seemed to go without a hitch and it was good that I didn’t have to hop companies just to get a better deal. I did think this was interesting though as I looked at my monthly bill. Everything was accurate in terms of the final bill with credits applied. But take a look at how long this bill was:
It described virtually every detail such as how the plan I am on is a promotional one where after the contract is up I would have to pay a regular rate. So their way of showing that is to bill you the standard rate while applying monthly credit to achieve the desired final figure. That was the same for items like the new modem. It looks like there is normally a monthly fee to have this new modem, but they waive this off by applying a month credit as well.
It makes you wonder if having bills like these actually cost the company more money in any way such as having to spend more time writing and reviewing all these little details.
