Today I was walking around the Vancouver convention center area and there was this setup for Concacaf which seemed to be part of the FIFA celebrations. It seemed fairly empty and the staff member outside was trying to lure people in by saying it was free to enter. That was probably necessary I was thinking as it looked like a paid ticket event o sort in many ways. As I approached it he even told me I could get free ice cream and he gave me a voucher.
It was pretty basic inside with trophies and games you can play. As well, I was able to et the free ice free which was nice. It kind of shows in these cases you still have to remind people the event is actually free as the fact that they gave out free ice cream would usually generate a massive lineup elsewhere. Perhaps having a sign outside saying so as well would have done wonders.
Spending all that money on staff and the setup to not get a lot of people visiting would be a disappointment for many of course. You just can’t forget the marketing aspect of it as well.
