Keeping Track If Your Shipping Service Was As Advertised or Not

Today I got a notice that I should be receiving a shipment from FedEx that was coming from the US. I was kind of shocked at first because it was coming from the far east yet it seemed like the delivery was slated to take two days only. Apparently, the company paid for the FedEx International Economy and that is a standard time-frame.

The notice today said that the shipment should be arriving before 8pm today. So as I waited throughout the evening there was no status change and ultimately it beer arrived. The company that sent the shipment actually sent one of those e-mails too where they ask if you can fill out a survey to tell them how everything was because they assumed that everything was done. It made me wonder, in cases like this would you monitor your vendors to make sure the service is as advertised?

I would imagine for companies that do a lot of sales they would just send it out and only address it if someone complains. But like in these cases I wouldn’t complain since I am in no rush and technically the actual company that I purchased the item from never promised an exact date for delivery. I was honestly expecting like a week or so. But they are paying I would imagine extra for the speed. How many times would you think this happens to the point where they shouldn’t be paying a premium for the expectation of faster delivery?
