Is There Such a Thing As Loyalty In A Representation Business

I was reading an interesting remark today from appeared to be a person who ran a talent management agency where usually in that business someone like an actor would hire a manager to help them get work through marketing and promotion where in return they get a percentage of the performer’s booked job. However, loyalty doesn’t seem to be a thing at times either side as in this case the manger was expressing how they had a client who was booking roles and decided to just drop them to go elsewhere.

This brought up the topic of loyalty in a business where the person was expressing as well how people should at least talk about their concerns first before leaving. Otherwise, you are kind of burning a bridge and making the person resentful. This can happen the other way around too when a management company just drops a talent for reasons such as the lack of bookings or they feel someone else has more potential.

Is there such a thing as loyalty in that line of work? I guess another example is a real estate agent. Are you usually loyal to one particular agent or would you immediately choose another that you think could sell your property at the highest price if the current one isn’t successful? That’s usually the mindset I see anyways. So as the business owner, should you just keep it as business while offering incentives to entice people to stay with you? This is versus of course the family mentality we often have with the business owner and customer relationship.
