The other day I was curious on how a person was doing where they recently moved to another country for financial reasons that was less expensive. His main source of income it seemed was offering people books and courses about the industry he was in as there are always people looking to get into it. He happened to have gotten some jobs before where even though he doesn’t work all the time, getting work is rare for many and so he decided to offer educational material for a fee. Eventually it seemed selling these items and services was actually making him the most money even when he literally didn’t any new jobs for say whole year.
You would think that would cause people to hesitate in buying the courses, but it didn’t seem to be the case. But what did cause him to lose sales was simply the fact that people have less money in recent times where they are opting to pursue traditional jobs that aren’t glamorous but safer and more consistent. So with his income drying up in both categories it kind of forced him to move. If you knew it was a profitable thing to do, would you immediately start to sell educational material based on one success as an example?
Now there are things like a “fake guru” where at times it seems like they sell you items based on emotional decisions versus their actual accomplishments to validate their teachings. Then again, there are some who are legitimately say teachers that help people learn the basics without any kind of noble prized accomplishment as an example. So in that sense one success could be valued a lot.
It’s just interesting to think about how people can create a profitable business without having to necessarily keep updated to prove what you offer is consistently practical versus just a chance of luck where you did it once per se. But then again, actually doing it versus just sitting in the sideline is probably why a lot of people experience success too.
