A lot of places have seen a rise in theft in their stores to the point where businesses have to close down. Many police officers have their hands tied too to the point where criminals feel like there are no repercussion to stealing. So what shop owners are doing recently it seems is they are taking matters into their own hands. If someone is stealing they will literally approach them armed and attack them if necessary in order to deter them and others from trying. This is normal in other parts of the world. But here you could probably get in trouble with the law for attack people in this way.
That’s the controversial part of course since people say the police aren’t doing anything. With that, there have been more videos popping up of these types of incidents and the public in general seems to support it knowing that a business owner will have to close down if nothing is done. In some cases I saw videos where people were commenting how the owners can’t do anything but to just hope they are insured.
Normally for most businesses people would say just let them steal it as it’s not worth risking your life for say a $10 item. But now with people being okay with stealing hundreds of dollars worth of stuff daily would you actually encourage business owners to take matters into their own hands? Retail stores often have low margins on many items too where one theft could really damage their financials.
