Can you imagine a situation where you are funded by a particular organization to do work for them where you are essentially contracted to promote their offerings. You know that what you have to push onto people isn’t very good overall and that the organization should change some stuff up. However, you are afraid to say anything because that could result in losing a contract. That’s the kind of scenario I was hearing recently for a person where a client of his was integral for his financial success but the end product wasn’t something he truly believed in.
It makes me wonder here if you would actively try and get the organization to fix its ways or simply start finding different companies to work with. It almost sounds like a typical employee and employer scenario huh? Except in this case it’s between two businesses. I have mostly seen people simply approach it where if it pays the bills then they will continue with it since it’s best for business as they say. Taking the high road per se isn’t exactly an easy thing if the business revolved its income around it.
Even more reason to always try and find multiple sources of revenue. It makes me wonder if I would ever risk it anyways in regards to telling it like it is to a client if I believe what they want me to help them sell is very poor. I know at minimum I would tend to do my research heavily before entering into any kind of agreement. But in the cases where you already signed on the dotted line that decision isn’t so clear afterwards.
