With news going on about the Israel and Palestine war naturally a lot of high-profile people are being asked how they feel about the issue. I saw common examples where because people took a side publicly, they automatically were banned from companies or even lost their jobs. In a lot of cases these were independent contractors. Then there were examples such as people refusing to answer questions of the topic where some went as far as to pretend to not hear the question while being interviewed remotely as if the connection was bad. I have seen that technique many times.
This is one of those things where people always say speak your mind and be true to yourself. However, when it comes to work and business it’s just common that mixing in personal opinions can often lead to job loss and cancellation. Companies simply don’t want to take the risk with controversial opinions and so to them it’s better to simply get rid of people that do so. Granted it can go the other way around too where if your opinion favors specific companies then you could receive a wealth of opportunity and support.
But many times it’s almost like politics it feels where no matter what you are going to end up in a divisive situation to the point it’s better to keep your opinions and business life separate.
