There is a lot of news here recently on how the RCMP is involved in the investigation of an app called ArriveCan here which was developed originally in recent times to track and manage travellers at airports in regards to their vaccination status. While the app itself was a flop, one thig is for sure is that the people involved in the creation of it probably made a lot of money. So recently there were allegations that potentially everyone to politicians to fake businesses of sort were involved in essentially taking tax payer money in this ordeal.
While we will have to wait and see, what it makes me think is how many times for government contracts people wonder why they don’t get selected even though they may have the skill and reputation to do so. Sometimes it’s simply who’s in charge of granting that fund where there could unfortunately be conflicts of interest. This ordeal is a bit more serious though as the allegations sound like it would be a criminal case.
I know some people who actually start their business with the mindset that the majority of their revenue needs to come from government contracts and everything else is just extra. With examples like these, that might not be a good idea if there are insiders that can often get everything.
