Adjusting Schedules On Short Notice With Planned Flexibility

I usually have a set schedule of sorts where most people who need me for any last minute work generally knows the best times that I would mots likely be available if there is an urgent need for something. At the same time I have gotten pretty efficient in being able to adjust to people’s last minute schedules if necessary too where this happened recently and the person was kind of shocked about it.

With that thought it made me wonder if there were any particular tricks that I do to be able to adapt in these situations. I think the only real thing I can think of is that I make a routine of the things that I need or want to do for the day where in many ways I will have the flexibility to do any work anywhere if need be. I think the most straight forward example for most is if you have some kind of meeting that normally requires you to be in-person to the point where you can’t travel too far then finding ways to potentially adjust that such as seeing if you could do meetings virtually would enable you to do what you have hoped for.

Or sometimes people struggle to make time to go to the gym as work is getting in the way. For myself I don’t personally do the gym stuff per se as I instead try and do everything such as healthy as a lifestyle habit. For example, walk to my destinations a lot if I can and generally trying to eat healthy. It just equals to so much more saved time and flexibility when you don’t tie yourself down in having to be at one exact place to do something if possible.

This won’t hold as true or would be more difficult with a traditional 9 to 5 office style, but a lot of the principle can be the same. For example, I have actually seen people have these little mini work out stations where while they are say thinking they actually take that moment to lift some weights or something. Sounds odd but it’s still multitasking. A little bit here and there can add up.
