Using AI When You Are Rich

Today I was diving into some fascinating stories about YouTube’s biggest creator, MrBeast. He’s built a true media empire. Beyond the massive views that generate huge ad revenue, he’s launched successful businesses like Feastables, his chocolate brand, among others.

MrBeast often implies he doesn’t live an extremely lavish lifestyle. Some even joke that he’s “broke” in certain ways, though this is likely more about smart tax strategies than actual financial hardship. Recently, something caught my attention. In one of his videos, viewers spotted the Google Gemini logo, which typically appears when AI-generated content is being used. Whether it was intentional or a simple slip-up, it quickly sparked backlash. Critics argued that a creator who makes millions—if not billions—should be able to hire real people instead of relying on AI. This raises an interesting question: when you become extremely successful and wealthy, are you expected to spend more freely just to maintain public perception?

Or is it smarter to keep that frugal mindset that helped you get there in the first place? It’s a tricky balance. On one hand, being seen as constantly cutting corners can make you look like you’re taking advantage of people. On the other hand, many wealthy individuals remain extremely frugal—they drive modest cars, eat simple meals, and avoid flashy spending habits. Once you make a lot of money, do you actually have to spend more just to appease public expectations?
