Trying To Spend Exactly To An Offer Amount

Recently I got a very good coupon offer from a store where if I spent $15 they would give me essentially $7.50 back in points. It was pretty much fifty percent off as another way to look at it. Usually for these offers the company would expect people to buy a lot more. For myself I usually try and spend just enough to get the bonus. So while seeing if there were any great deals I saw that there were these buy four one litre juices for six dollars each. That wasn’t too bad as It was $1.25. There were two separate brands with the same offer and so I bought a total of eight.

That was only $12 though and so I needed to find something for $3. I looked at a bunch of items such as small bags of nuts and breakfast bars but virtually everything was almost five dollars. Eventually I saw that they had a sale where you could buy two large bags of chips for $3. Mainly because of the price and I thought once in awhile it can okay to snack on this stuff I decided to get that. Not a bad haul overall. With tax and deposit fees the total was $15.95. With the 7725 points I earned that means everything was little over $8.

You could argue that it would have been better to buy something say non junk food related even if it meant spending more. But for me this is a financial habit of sort to in a sense control your spending while getting a great value for stuff you would use or consume one way or another. It makes you think and plan in a balanced way where you need to spend your money to survive and have some fun.
