There are a lot of stories today about Grand Theft Auto 6, which is coming out soon. Apparently, the game has suffered a huge leak as a hacker has gained access to one of their builds and is leaking everything from visuals to gameplay, potentially ruining the experience for many fans.
The claim is that the person is upset that Rockstar is releasing a digital only version of the game instead of a physical copy. While you can debate whether that’s true, what I found interesting is how people immediately started speculating about who the leaker actually was. One popular theory suggests it was an employee, possibly from a team based in India where Rockstar outsources a lot of its work to cut costs.
If that’s true, it serves as a cautionary tale about outsourcing. When you hire the cheapest labor available, you might not be factoring in how much even a relatively small amount of money could mean to someone in a lower-wage country. What feels like pocket change to a company in the West could be life-changing money elsewhere, making employees far more susceptible to bribes or leaks.
