This was an interesting deal I saw today where there is a service called NordVPN that has a deal with a cashback site called Rakuten that usually offers cashback rewards as an incentive to purchase products and services through them. You can normally expect maybe 5% cashback as an incentive that adds up over time. However, in this case they were offering a 100% cashback reward which means you essentially just pay the taxes which makes it a steal. With that said, you still have to part ways with your money until you actually get the cashback reward. But do you take advantage of deals like these when they are virtually free even if you wouldn’t have gotten it normally?
You may think why not right? One reason would be as mentioned you are technically paying money still as the taxes are still being charged. The second reason for this is considering the service is subscription based there are actually a lot of people who say forget to cancel and end up having a services they never really use potentially while being stuck with the bill. That can be a headache on its own.
That’s why I don’t usually just enroll into everything that is free unless I was going to actually use it a fair amount or at least give it away to someone. It’s like signing up for all those free store credit cards that can end up costing you in other ways by having so many opened accounts. Don’t get greedy as they say I guess.
