This was kind of an interesting rumble that was going online where with there cent passing of an actress named Hayden Panettiere people have been researching her past interviews for clues on what may have attributed to her passing and on thing that was popping up is how there are claims that the company Neutrogena had in the past ceased a working relationship with the actress due to her publicly talking about her treatment with things like depression on a show. Even I was shocked in reading that.
I know many times companies want say squeaky clean people to represent their brand, but this is one of those common human stories you hear of people fighting through a struggle that a lot would be able to relate to. So for a company to be that worried to cut out a partnership over that is odd. Of course, now that she has unfortunately passed away you bet this company is getting a lot of negative attention that ironically some executive probably envisioned they would only potentially get if they kept her on.
Honestly, in these cases for branding I would think even if she ended up doing something very bad it would probably not harm the company much unless they kept her on still. Example, if she knowingly scammed others where it was big news. But like here, the company faces extreme risk of being labelled as not supportive and a factor on her death here as a result.
