For whatever reason it seems like recently the prices in the supermarket have been dropping on a lot of products to the point where it is very tempting to just stock up as they are better than regular prices. However, these are grocery items such as vegetables that will go bad if not consumed fairly promptly. As an example, there have been large bags of oranges on sale for about five dollars whereas normally it would be about $9. I bought one where it’s tempting to stock up but I couldn’t see myself finishing bags of them each week.
To my surprise, there are actually a lot of people who would simply buy large volumes of food just to throw it away because the sale price was fantastic. Costco stores are probably the best example of this where people by these large volumes of food that they can’t really finish. Despite the savings, if you end up throwing it a way or forcing yourself to consume more than you want to then it’s a deal that isn’t that great in the end I think.
Part of saving money is getting things that you are going to actually use and realistically need. Otherwise in this case it is kind of like splurging too where you are getting things you don’t really need. If anything, split the purchases with others so that everyone benefits.
