This got me thinking today as I walked through the city there were street performers as usual where a lot of the acts were people playing musical instruments. Some had people staying to listen but people often simply walked by. But there was this one particular person that was drawing a consistent crowd it seems. At first I thought maybe it’s just the instrument, but there was one thing I noticed as the person was dressed up to look the part I guess you could say which generated that extra curiosity for people to stop and listen.
There were a lot of others with large instruments or even street acts that had interesting props, but the one thing they had all in common were they looked like everyday average people performing an act. That’s a good lesson I thought on how your visual branding can play such a key role in getting people to even notice you in the first place as most people will judge these kinds of things immediately.
Wouldn’t that be something where just wearing a simple costume as an example can make the world of difference for these performers? It’s true for business people too which is why many wear suits as you are pre-judged immediately based on your clothing.
