Taking Advantage of The Weather To Draw Customers

A person was telling me the other day that for their business they created their storefront environment in such a way where they are perfectly equipped to attract people that want to try to escape the weather outside. For example, since it is like summer weather now they have a ton of air conditioning to make sure that people will want to be inside which will increase the chance of people buying things from them.

This may sound so simple but surprisingly a lot of their competitors seemed to have neglected this. I saw one of their competitors make no changes at all which meant at this time of the year their storefront is just boiling hot. Even for myself I would be inclined to go to the store that is a little more cozier. I can only imagine how much more business they take from the other companies just because of that factor.

Imagine if there was say two malls side by side where one has no air conditioning during the summer versus one that did. Would be interesting to see how much of a factor that would play in drawing customers when it comes to a larger scale. For other weather types such as if it was raining I have even seen companies place these mini heaters of sort to specifically help people dry off which seems to work wonders too in making people feel like it is a business that is looking out for them.

Talk about BAD for the environment. What a waste of energy:
    1. Using a ton of air conditioning in Vancouver
    2. Heating the outdoors with gas heaters when it rains.

I chose to shop at companies that has good environmental practices, and not the crap companies you are talking about.

How do you know that certain companies aren’t innovating and using non traditional ways to say air condition a store that is more energy efficient? What makes you think that gas heaters are the only choice too?

In my opinion there is no point in being that judgmental as I’m sure 90% of the things everyone uses, including yourself, is technically unnecessary and is bad to someone or the environment. Heck, people can argue to the moon that using computers and producing electricity is bad.

If that was the case with you, do you think a coffee shop that offered say free Wi-Fi for its customers are crap companies compared to ones that don’t because it uses more electricity as a result? But anyways, the point of the post isn’t about lifestyle choices and personal beliefs as opposed to what companies do to successfully attract more people when it comes to the weather.

Also, just to note about the heater it was indoor from what I saw. Think of it like entering a store and at the entrance there are places where you can put your umbrella and also having a specialized heater there.
