I was reading about a case today on how Google was found liable as a result of its AI summary feature that displays when users do a search nowadays where it apparently made inaccurate and damaging remarks about a business to the point where they got sued. Normally the platform would be shielded from this liability as the search would literally just display what the website owners write themselves. However, in this case it was ruled that since the AI generated its own summaries it is basically liable for the words it wrote.
That is a real fascinating scenario at this day and age where while many companies are rushing to get their AI platforms out there with hallucinations becoming a common theme you better be prepared to write every disclaimer you can think of I suppose to avoid liability. It will definitely make people second guess the AI, but if you don’t this case basically set a precedence for companies to be sued over bad information.
Surely disclaimers are easy to implement just to cover yourself correct?
