Save On Foods $1.49 Tuesday Throwback Visit

I actually don’t shop at Save On Foods much as I often find the prices to be higher than other available supermarkets that seem to offer the same items. But I noticed an ad today that talked about how they were essentially going back to the past where apparently way back on Tuesdays they had deals that were priced at $1.49. That’s not a bad price for some stuff I saw in the ads such as blueberries so I went to pay a visit.

There were indeed a lot of good deals where the main item I thought that would be good to give to people like my parents were the small boxes of blueberries as $1.49 is not a bad price for what looks like is normally $3 to $5 at most places during these times. There were also a lot of common items that people use all the time like bread.

Usually for these types of sales you have to wonder if there is a catch. Was it just a marketing stunt or is there something with the products that make the company want to get rid of them? For the most part everything seemed okay, but out of habit I usually check the expiry dates when there isa good deal on food items. Sure enough, in this one instance I found an expired product.

As you can see, these Crispers were expired back in December of 2022. It’s a good price for $1.49, but I doubt most would want the expired product. Although to be clear the other ones on the shelf seemed to still have a good three months or more shelf life on it. You always have to check regardless of how great the deals sound.

I think these kinds of promotions are good for marketing as it attracts people who are simply looking for a good deal and at the same time it plays on the nostalgic factor to generate additional exposure to get people to talk about the company. Kind of like what I am doing here right?
