Today I was looking for some jars of pickles where I started by seeing if any particular brand was on sale. There were quite a few options with the store branded items being the cheapest as expected since it is their own manufactured items. But this is what got me to think as for one particular store brand I always found that the product didn’t taste as good as other brands for some reason. After doing various comparisons of the ingredients that didn’t seem to be the issue which made me wonder what else could it be?
What I did notice was that for this particular store brand all of its pickles were labeled as a product of India. The other pickles from other brands seemed to have originated from North America and some even local. That perfectly explained why the quality was so different. Ultimately, I found one that was on sale that was actually made locally here. Like in this case though with food, the origin of the product was far more important the brand itself overall.
It should be a common-sense factor to shopping for food. But many times we just look at the price and pretty label. If you are putting stuff in your body too I think the ingredients and sources is probably worth paying the extra money in a lot of cases. In the same vein on how it may be better to pay for higher quality components for expensive things like a computer.
