This was actually fascinating to me as it’s no surprise when it comes to a business, people on the top often choose people to be say the face of the company per se or to essentially be the role model for all workers to follow. But what I the person you chose is not actually say the most skilled or productive worker in your company? When people choose an individual that person should excel at something to justify being chosen. Otherwise, it will backfire as people will scream favoritism as an example.
So imagine in this case where a company highlighted their chosen person’s accomplishment in say making a certain sales quota. While it was impressive, imagine there were quite a few people who actually surpassed that number nut they got no recognition from the company. To make it crazier, the company ignored those people intentionally because celebrating their victory will make their chosen candidate look unimpressive. So best to avoid that I their mind.
Would you agree with that direction? It’s almost like a parent shielding their child from actual real world numbers and results as they don’t want them to look bad. I think that is a mistake personally as it feels more like a company executive protecting their ego for a decision that may not have been the best in hindsight. If anything, they should be celebrating and nurturing the growth of those who are naturally preforming. Can you imagine how much bigger than they can get if you threw support at them as an example? You would think that would be a dream for most businesses to have a bunch of talented workers to grow. But alas, for many it’s personal I guess you can day.
