It’s true that if you want to achieve some kind of goal then being around people that inspire and push you to do better is always a good idea. Because of that people are often trying to find a regular group of people that they can hang around with where hopefully the positivity among the group will encourage everyone to wan to succeed and keep going. It was interesting though to hear the story of one person who joined so many groups where there was actually a fee attached to all of them. The expense was actually high enough to the point where he couldn’t invest in things that he could actually use right now to further his business.
It sound silly but I think this is actually very common where when we are starting out and things don’t seem to be going the way we envision a lot of times we hope that we can find others who are experiencing the same thing in an effort to solve it. Trying to find a shortcut too is often what people are looking for. While that is okay and can be a smart idea I just find so many times there are people who just take advantage of others in these scenarios.
Like for this example I was looking at some of the groups the person paid for where my first thought was how much the organizer was probably making off of it. People often met about once a week and he charged about twenty dollars each person. The price justification was the worst I thought where they used the old you are not serious if you aren’t willing to invest twenty dollars to attend something that may change your life. I’m all for paying for events if you find value out of it but I would be weary about groups like that which feels like they are capitalizing on one of your weaknesses. Many times it’s just a simple matter of continuing the journey and not giving up.
