Today I was spending some time with the nephew which involved going for a hike around the area and because the weather was hot he got craving for some ice cream. I actually did buy him a meal for lunch earlier which was around the expected price of $18. I knew ahead of time this ice cream was going to be expensive as that’s how these shops make their money. But it gets you to think as two scoops of ice cream with a waffle cone came out to about $12.
Just think about that financially where you can have a restaurant meal for that cost or a simple snack. I didn’t mind as it’s a treat of course but it makes things so apparent financially where if you are one to constantly buy say snacks here and there on the go it can really add up. At the end of the trip I actually went to the supermarket where he tagged along and I decided to buy these two liters of lemonade which he liked for $2.50 each as he went home with one. Even there, look at how much lemonade you could buy for the money of that ice cream cone.
The good thing though was my nephew fully understood the extreme price differences with commenting how you could buy so much ice cream at that supermarket but recognized it was because of the convenience factor that makes buying from outdoor food vendors so expensive. Once in awhile is okay of course. But make it a habit and you shouldn’t be surprised where all your money goes to each month.
