Today I was literally at a farm where the public can essentially buy items grown right from there and in many people’s mind it is a great way to support local providers. As expected, you pay an extra premium because of this too. There was a couple of intersting bits though such as how one of the workers at the farm was trying to tell my friend and I how great certain food products were. There were these super large pickles where the signs indicated that the farm was world famous for. When my friend asked them if they made those fresh everyday at the farm the person said no as it is made elsewhere and then brougt in. We were then looking at other products and many of the groceries were apparently similiar where it wasn’t grown at the farm at all.
My friend was then saying how she was saddened at that fact because as a consumer you would think that items from the farm and paying a premium for it would mean you are getting items that they produce themselves. I guess it’s just like most other bsuinesses though where they use the farm mostly as an attraction and once people get there it’s all about making a sale to increase profit margins.
