Today I was reading how a person had established a business under a specific identity and for the most part she has grown it to a respectable level. All of a sudden she decided to change her business identity to her own name kind of like what many consultants do. This then brought up some debate on whether making a business as your own name makes you sound smaller and therefore people will take you less seriously when you are still growing.
In some businesses I think this can actually help you more. Especially those that involve providing people tips and advice. I think the funny thing is too that a lot of businesses actually are simply named after the founders except they are in an abbreviated form. Almost reminds me of charities too as after awhile the name eventually becomes the brand where people never even think of it as just a regular name.
I think in general it’s more about hopefully whatever decision you make you stick with it as changing the actual name is probably going to cost you a lot of money and effort you already put into building your business.
