Leaving The Store To Think About A Big Purchase

Recently I was in a cell phone store as I realized that I could get a discount on a new phone since my contract has expired. As a result, I asked an associate as to the type of phones that are available within my price range. There were some phones that looked interesting to me but they were unfortunately sold out. As a result, I was constantly presented with other options consisting of older model phones that were still decent. The associate then began to calculate how much it would cost me with my renewal bonus and even went as far as saying he could knock the price down even further.

That almost made me want to buy it as the notion of getting all these discounts makes it very tempting. However, in the end I told him that I would need to think about it. As I got home, I began to research the phones that were out of stock. From what I gathered, it was literally the same price as the one that was being suggested to me except it had better specs all around. Therefore, it would be silly to buy an older technology phone if I would get something superior for the same price.

Unless I specifically researched a product and its price ahead of time with the intent of buying something, I find that it is just a good habit many times to actually leave the store and think about it. Like in this example, it’s just too easy to want to buy something because it feels like you are personally getting such a great deal. Especially if you have someone egging you on to how good it is. Thankfully I didn’t jump the gun on the purchase.
