Today I got texted about this class in the area where my friend was interested in attending. From the looks of it someone was teaching people how to essentially use a stick in a super fancy way that is definitely meant more for show. Imagine being able to rotate a stick like what you would see in a martial arts moving or mimicking lightsaber battles like in Star Wars. I actually study martial arts with this person and the first comment that anther said was how it was not exactly a practical skill to learn and that he should save his money.
My first thought was if he was doing that it would be purely for fun. It might be good for him as well since he didn’t tend to do much physical activities. As well, for myself I tend to like to spend money experiencing and learning new things. This would be a good example of that where for say $200 I would rather do this then say blow it on a one night’s meal. One funny thing too is that this useless skill per se could actually help make you money if you were in the entertainment business.
There are just so many examples of things where the majority of people would say the skill is completely useless yet in certain circumstances it could be the key factor in helping you to stand out from everyone else. You may even be able to create an industry of it. I suppose skateboarding is a great example when you see how that hobby evolved where at the time everyone thought it was just a silly and useless skill to master.
