Today was one of those days where I was primarily in location far away from my home and there was a lot of in between work time where I could be working on other items. Usually at home this would be a no brainer as there are plenty if things I could work on. However, for my mobile solutions I have a laptop that isn’t as powerful as a desktop which restricts what I can and can’t do.
This is often a resource investment I debate about where for the money you can usually build a very powerful computer for home use versus say a moderate one if you are looking for a mobile solution for the same price. You could just get two powerhouse computers but I know many time people do have to budget. Plus tech changes so fast where if you only find yourself say travelling a few times a year then you will probably regret the investment after just a few use.
Although, there is another option for this specific scenario of laptops. You could invest all out on the powerful laptop and then simply use that as your home desktop type of computer as well by simply plugging in the outlet and connecting it to any monitor. I actually did that before not with a top of the line model but rather I needed something to replace my almost 7 year old computer while knowing better stuff was coming soon. Because I was travelling too I ultimately decided to buy a mid ranged laptop and after the trip I just used the laptop as my home computer. It worked okay actually, It’s an example on how there is usually a suitable middle ground solution to anything versus one or the other end of the extreme.
