A person was telling me today how they wanted to buy some chicken but it didn’t seem like any of the stores she visited was having a sale as everything was almost $5 per pound. In the name of frugality, she didn’t buy any. I decided to pass by a supermarket because of that where I knew they regularly had chicken for under $2 a pound. Sure enough, when I went into the store there were bags of chicken for about $1.73 a pound and I decided to buy some for her.
It really helps to know which stores in your area are the best places to buy certain items as it is very rare that one store will have all the items you need for the week at a sale price. At the same time, like in this example you can often keep a list of which stores seem to always have particular items on sale. In this case, I knew they had fresh chicken at lower prices frequently. At the same time, I know this store doesn’t have great prices for commercially packaged items.
Of course, stores normally rely on people to purchase all their items from one place to make up for offering discounts. But if you want to save money and can make a reasonable travel route of sort with your daily routines, buying just the sale items can be easy and fruitful financially.
